What can I get from the Perimenopause Course that's not already on the internet?

01

What exactly does perimenopause do to me?  How can I make it better?

Learn the difference between Perimenopause -> Menopause -> Postmenopause. Understand what happens to estrogen and progesterone (and why symptoms can fluctuate month to month). Learn why you can have significant symptoms even while you are still getting your period.

02

Why am I gaining weight?  What's with my period?  Why do I hate everybody?

Connect the dots between your hormones and: period changes, hot flashes, night sweats, sleep, mood, brain fog, weight/body composition, libido, vaginal health, urinary symptoms, and bone health. Stop looking at each symptom as an isolated problem and start seeing the bigger picture.

03

You don't have to just deal with it.

You do not have to simply accept "that's what happens when you get older," assume poor sleep is your new normal, accept painful sex, accept debilitating hot flashes, or spend years feeling unlike yourself. There are evidence-based approaches to many symptoms (lifestyle, nonhormonal options, and for appropriate women, hormone therapy). The goal is not to tell every woman what she needs - it is to help you understand your choices.

04

How to be successful at the doctor's office

Learn how to prepare for your appointment and describe symptoms clearly. What to bring: period history, symptoms, sleep patterns, medications/supplements, medical and family history - and the questions to ask (e.g., could this be perimenopause, what else should we rule out, do I need testing, what are my options, am I a candidate for hormone therapy, and what are the risks/benefits for me). Your clinician should help you make an individualized decision based on your history, risks, and preferences.
